A Dream Within A Dream
A day once dawned on me
Filled with malice and strife.
A day most full and most rife
With mistakes, misfortunes and follies.
The Sun’s relentless gaze
Was set, critically, upon me
As if in disapproval, you see,
Of all my faltering ways.
I trudged and stumbled, losing my way
As the world around me wailed
And my sanity had all but failed
Navigating through the Day.
Till at last, the night descended
And I drifted into a gentle dream.
But I was awake; watching the sunlight stream
Had my dream begun or ended?
